KAMPALA — Popular Ugandan TikTok content creator Katongole Anthony, widely recognized by his online moniker "Chicken Chicken," has been arrested by police in Kampala. The arrest follows a highly circulated social media video that captured the malicious destruction of a private vehicle.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police confirmed that the digital creator was apprehended by law enforcement officers in Kawempe and is currently being held in custody as investigations into the incident unfold.
According to an official police statement released by Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala, the crime took place in the early hours of Thursday, June 25, 2026.
At approximately 3:00 a.m., a targeted incident occurred within the parking premises of Akamweesi Mall, a prominent commercial hub located in the Kawempe Division of Kampala District.
Preliminary police investigations reveal that "Chicken Chicken," acting alongside several other individuals who are still at large, allegedly descended upon the vehicle and systematically smashed its windscreens, causing extensive and costly structural damage.
While Katongole Anthony remains securely behind bars at the Kawempe Police Station, authorities emphasize that he did not act alone. The viral video clips indicate a coordinated effort, and law enforcement is actively pursuing the remaining suspects who fled the scene.
"The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue," SP Kawala noted in the public brief. "Efforts are fully underway to identify and apprehend the other individuals believed to have actively participated in the incident."
