Eddy Kenzo on Monday this week had a private meeting with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Through a tweet put out by the Big Talent boss, Kenzo revealed the meeting aimed at streamlining the music industry and talking to the President about the copyright law amendment.
“In the quest for streamlining our industry and lobbying for a well-functioning Music industry, today I met my Mzee H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and we discussed the urgent need for the amendment of the Copyright & Neighboring Rights Act 2006. It was a great discussion in which he promised to follow into the matter with the urgency it requires,” he tweeted on Monday evening.
The singer also added the President will be holding another meeting with the leaders of the Uganda National Musicians Federation to share views on the organization of the industry and introduce many of them to him.
“He also accepted my request for a meeting to introduce to him the Uganda National Musicians Federation Leadership and how far we have gone as a federation in building national structures for a more inclusive and vibrant Music industry,” he noted.
However, other sources allege Eddy Kenzo requested to meet with the President to offer his thanks on behalf of the federation after he donated 20 billion to them to help in fostering their duties.
“He went to thank the President for the money which came into their account to help in running of the federation. It’s the same money which warranted Cindy to write an open letter to the President for support,” a trusted source told this website.
