The chief traditionalist of the Busoga Kingdom has encouraged all his tribemates to respect tradition and abstain from having sex until their King Wilberforce Nadiope Gabula marries his queen Jovia Mutesi on November 18, 2023.

Patrick Mudhungu, well known as Uncle Samona, claims that it is customary for all Busoga locals to abstain from sexual activity on this particular day.

Mudhungu also advised married couples to “sleep on the floor and not in their beds” that day.

“No one should be in their beds on the wedding day.” According to Mudhungu, who addressed the local media, “Every male in this kingdom shall sleep on the floor when our King gets his queen on November 18.”

I’m calling on all of us to refrain from committing that mistake since tradition prevents us from doing so. Keep yourself and your bed apart.

Mudhungu currently holds the position of President of the Uganda Nakazadde n’Eddagala Lyayo, which is the umbrella body for Uganda’s traditional healers.

People often seek the counsel of this well-respected and vocal traditional leader when they have questions about matters relating to Busoga culture and customs.

President Yoweri Museveni is expected to be present at the Christ Cathedral in Bugembe, where the Busoga Monarch Nadiope Gabula and his queen Mutesi will exchange vows.

The reception at King’s Place in Igenge is expected to be attended by only a small number of those who have been invited.

The rest of the subjects will partake in the primary festivities from each of the kingdom’s counties.

The organizing committee said that large screens will be put in different places so that locals may view the wedding and celebration festivities live.
