In 2016, Azawi received the chance to collaborate with Eddy Kenzo. She was a member of a band that year, and Kenzo chose them to perform at a performance.

She stated in an interview with Ruth Kalibbala that Kenzo requested their participation in a song he was recording in the studio while they were practicing.

Kenzo asked if she could write after hearing some of the phrases Azawi added to the song.

For the song Fish in My Heart that Azawi composed for him, he paid her Sh500k.

Furthermore, Kenzo introduced me to hen. She is a gifted writer, and Kenzo saw this when he saw Producer Kuseim at the time working for Big Talent Entertainment.

After the two started collaborating on songs, Azawi, who was in her final year of college, took a break from songwriting to finish her coursework.
The same year, Kuseim resigned from Big Talent in order to open his own studio.
Kuseim was the one who created the first well-known songs by Azawi, such as Quinamino.

It’s also important to keep in mind that Azawi supported Kenzo during his 2020 event to commemorate ten years in the music industry, and she was paid Sh1 million for her support.

With the aid of that money, she left her mother’s house and started paying her own rent.

It was in 2015 when Azawi joined a group that would later work with Eddy Kenzo on music that she would write.

She met Kuseim, his producer at Big Talent Entertainment, through Kenzo.

They started writing songs with Kuseim before he left Big Talent to start his studio.
Kuseim produced the beat for Quinamino.

When they first started thinking about selling it, Azawi suggested Swangz Avenue because she wanted Winnie Nwagi to sing on it.

She had the option of signing a contract with Benon Mugumbya and Julius Kyazee, whom she had met at Swangz, and they encouraged her to sing rather than just write.
