Ugandan police will stop Kampala’s roadways on Friday to commemorate Museveni’s 79th birthday.

The celebrations marking President Yoweri Museveni’s 79th birthday are expected to close a number of roadways in Kampala, the country’s capital, on Friday.

The event, which will take place in the Kololo Independence Grounds, is anticipated to draw more than 100,000 visitors, according to Senior Superintendent Godwin Arinaitwe, the commander of the Kampala District Traffic Police, who issued the traffic directive on Thursday.

“We estimate that approximately 100,000 guests from different regions of the country will attend. We advise the general public to exercise caution and to abide by the law because there are momentary traffic flow delays, Arinaitwe was quoted as saying by the Nile Post.

Although drivers won’t be permitted to utilize Upper Kololo Terrace, Elgon Terrace, or Lower Kololo Terrace because those locations are reserved for VVIPs, traffic will still be able to move via the Golf Course traffic signals in the direction of Acacia Avenue, according to the police chief.

Road users coming from Jinja Park have been told to travel to the UMA showgrounds, while those coming from Bombo Road have been told to go to Old Kira Road, the Lugogo bypass, and the KCCA grounds close to Shoprite.
If you’re coming from the Entebbe side, you can make use of the Lugogo bypass and the KCCA grounds. You can also use the Jinja Road traffic lights and the Kampala Road.

Utilizing Yusuf Lule Road, the Golf Course Traffic Lights, Nakumatt, Jinja Road Traffic Lights, and the Wampeewo Roundabout are the recommended exit routes from Nansana. Arinaitwe advised that they should then leave their vehicles at either the KCCA grounds or the UMA show grounds.
